Women in Public Finance was founded in 1997 with a focus on the Midwest region. That focus has expanded over the years to draw interest from all over the United States. Participants in WPF events include state and local government issuers, not-for-profit issuers, investment bankers, attorneys, financial advisors, rating agency analysts, bond insurers, and trust officers among others. The mission of WPF is to advance women’s leadership opportunities and potential by fostering relationships and networking, and providing educational and learning activities and forums.
WPF desires to encourage the creation of local chapter and affiliate groups of WPF, to provide more frequent personal contact and promote state and regional activities that complement the nationally focused activities of WPF. To facilitate this effort, in 2010 WPF amended its bylaws as follows to permit the recognition of these local groups.
